Hi,
I've got a small problem with messages coming into my Exchange Server over
the X.400 connector from a foreign MTA. Every so often a message comes into
the Exchange server destined for a local mailbox. Exchnage server gets
confused and sends back an NDR. when I re-send the message it goes through
without a problem. In the event log it shows event 290 and 210. It only
seems to happen with messages coming into the Exchange Server over the X.400
connector.
Event 290
A non-delivery report (reason code unable-to-transfer and diagnostic code
maximum-time-expired) is being generated for message C=US;A=

redirected to . [MTA DISP:RESULT 20 136] (12)

I've been through MSDN and Technet. There is a bit of info about these
errors but nothing that has resolved my problem. MICROSOFT premier support
have drawn a blank.
I've got NT SP6, Exchange SP3. I've also got Jounaling turned on and all
messages make it into the message journal.
I've turned on logging, but ASPRIN cannot decode the BF0 files that
represent the dodgy messages.
The problem first cropped up after doing a disaster recovery.
Has anybody experienced similar problems?
