USENET is not a directory service or a switch board.

If it's urgent, send their webmaster a note (but if their web
server is down s/he's bound to know about it already).  In any
other case, just wait.

It means that we have no control or information
about somebody's web site.  That comes from its
controllers (aka 'webmasters').

To be more blunt, your query is not about the C++ language.

Hi Andreas ,

For your information, we are not Sweden... This is The United States of
America and, as soon as I expressed a *very* c++ honest concern about a
*very* c++ related site (http://www.mingw.org) and in a very polite way, I
do not really understand what is your problem. You work hard to get that PhD
of yours finished (as we all did once) and leave this forum alone (make
yourself a favor and go to
http://www.law.emory.edu/FEDERAL/usconst/amend.html#art-1 and read Article
I... before playing the newsgroups regulator... your [don't top-post] is
anti-constitutional...) Obviously, I will have to report this to the people
in charge to protect our way of life... Just like Alex said "Well, I just
love policing regulars here. ;-)"

Again, this is VERY c++ related question. Not addressed to the forum but to
the community present in this forum... My concerns are about the future of
c++ (mingw, the windows native port of gcc is not a minor issue... at least
for me, as a development tools provider/manufacturer/architect/you name it)

PS
The reason I asked this question was (somehow) technical and c++ related. If
the future of gcc was not c++ related, then I would be v**d** priest :-)

Best Regards,
Daniel :-)

Quote:> Hi Andreas ,

"This" is not Sweden, nor is it the U.S.A., or Germany, or France,
or Australia, or any other country.  "This" is Usenet, a 'virtual'
community composed of individuals from every part of planet Earth
(and I hope eventually elsewhere).

Quote:>and, as soon as I expressed a *very* c++ honest concern about a

'mingw' is an implementation.  Particular implementations are not
topical here, only the language itself.

What causes you to think that the internet is somehow the
sole domain (pardon the pun) of the United States of America.
The internet is a borderless 'place'.  IMO this is as it
should be.

Quote:>your [don't top-post] is
> anti-constitutional...)

Whether it is compatible with the U.S. Constitution is irrelevant.
That does not define or regulate the internet (thank goodness),

Quote:>Obviously, I will have to report this to the people
> in charge

In charge of what?

Quote:>to protect our way of life...

Nobody is attacking your 'way of life'.  They're merely exercising
their right of free speech (which btw does not need any 'constitution'
in order to exist -- real individual rights are inherent, not 'created.'
(Even lawyers get this wrong -- I suspect purposely).

Some here have disagreed with you, and you with them.  Can't you
deal with that without appealing to some external 'authority'?

Quote:>Just like Alex said "Well, I just
> love policing regulars here. ;-)"

These 'police' have no real 'authority', they're merely people
making requests and/or demands, hopefully with the intention of
protecting the coherency of the forum.  They can't stop you from
posting whatever you like, nor can you stop them.

I disagree.

Quote:>Not addressed to the forum but to

Huh?  What is a 'forum' without participants?

Quote:>My concerns are about the future of

That would be topical here.

Quote:>(mingw, the windows native port of gcc is not a minor issue...

Not topical.

The future of (among other aspects) of C++ would be topical here.) (*)
The future of a specific implementation would not.

(*) Actually, I think the future of C++, as with other 'how and why
C++ is the way it is' questions, might be more suited to comp.std.c++

1. anyone know anything about http://www.openwatcom.org?

Hi all,

I tried to download the watcom open compiler for windows and found
that it was still a patch - see site above.

There is recent news (17/06/2002) that the source is now available, I
was wondering if there are any windows binaries available (that are
not patches to previous releases - I want the whole thing!!!).

Thank for any help/pointers/ideas.
