SMTP Problem

SMTP Problem

Post by Antoine » Thu, 25 Oct 2001 16:42:56

I've got an Exchange server on a site called A.
I've got a Sendmail Box on a site called B. (Without AD)

So Sendmail on B forward every message to Exchange on A for users of the
site A.

When I try to add a Domain Controller for the site B (sites are well defined
in Active Directory Sites), It completes succeed. (I DO NOT INSTALL EXCHANGE
ON THIS SERVER)
But then, Sendmail forward sometimes emails to Exchange on A (so it works
fine), sometimes to DC on B (so i get a "user unknow" error).
I don't understand why Sendmail starts to forward emails to this server.
Sendmail is also a slave DNS server for Exchange in A....but MX is ok and go
to Exchange in A and never to DC in B.

Any idea?

I've found the answer.
In fact, I had to add an MX entry on the DNS server on A.
It was working before without mx entry caus there was only one server inside
the AD domain.

1. Syn problem, archive problem, and smtp problem

Hi,
I have three problems with my server.
1) Synchronization problem in the background during the inbox folder or sent
item folder for some clients, I know it is not the clients because it
happened to some of new installations of Outlook where nothing is wrong with
the client computer.

2) Can't move or archive some folders to pst because "some files are deleted
or corrupted".  Is there a way to fix this or to find out which item is
causing the problem?

3) Is there a way to stop people logging on the smtp server and send email
using a fake email address?  I can't turn on authorentication because that
will stop incoming email.

Any help will be appreciated!

-John
