OH NO COMPATIBILITY MODE AGAIN!!!!!

OH NO COMPATIBILITY MODE AGAIN!!!!!

Post by Captain PeekHar » Tue, 03 Mar 1998 04:00:00

ITS HAPPENED AGAIN!!
I ran DOS Undelete last night (BIG mistake) - Win 95 said it had to be
run in DOS mode... okay ... didnt work anyway but when I ran Win 95
again - I got a warning saying that there was a boot sector virus (which
there ISNT) or that there was a real mode driver being used - there ISNT
(I dont think!!, not in Config.sys or Autoexec.bat anyway). and hence
Win 95 was in the dreaded MSDOS COMAPTIBILITY MODE (again). I am pissed
off with this. PLUS as usual - I losy access to the CD ROM, same old
guff again.... The last 2 times it happened (W95 said there was a
problem with one of my disks (there wasnt)), I managed to do a hardware
scan and this fixed it. The other times needed a W95 re-install. I DO
NOT WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN. IS THERE A WAY TO CURE THIS WITHOUT A
COMPLETE RE_INSTALL.
I tried copying over the system.dat and user.dat from a safe backup but
that didnt help. Neither did the hardware scan... There must be a way
round this... any utilities do the fix???

Please help

Paddy

1. MS-DOS Compatibility mode in safe mode only

Supposed to. That's one of the things "safe" about it.
