Can you clear a username from login box?

Post by Sean » Fri, 21 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Environment of Win 95, 98 and NT workstations.  All machines log into
the domain via the typical login box.  Is there a way to remove the
previous username from the box?   How is it done in each of the
Operating Systems?

Thanks!

I know Policies do this. Which means there is a Registry key
that will do it. Sorry, I don't know exactly which key.

WINNT.ADM, the policy template for WinNT says in the key
  HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
there is a value
  DontDisplayLastUserName
which can be turned on ("1") or off ("0").

That value will have to be added to the registry.  I don't think it's
there by default.  We've don this on all our lab NTs.
