MS-DOS Box: Won't Print Until Closing Box

MS-DOS Box: Won't Print Until Closing Box

Post by pjch.. » Thu, 01 May 1997 04:00:00

A neighbor just installed an Okidata 4w on his son's computer.

The printer will only print from a Windows app, or a DOS app
run from inside the Windows DOS box.  The son uses WordPerfect
5.1.  When he tells it to print, there is disk activity but nothing
prints unless he then exits WP back to Windows.

The printer uses its own print manager program, not the Windows
print manager.  Has anybody got a suggestion on how to make
it print without exiting the program?  By the way, all the DOS
programs exhibit the same symptoms.

1. Connecting Win NT Box to Win 98 Box

I am trying to get shared folders from the win 98 box onto the NT, i set
them to the same workgroup and they are on the same subnet but for some
reason they are not showing up each others network neighborhoods.  What is
the problem ? Also the connection is very slow is this related to using
the IP instead of the name and them not being present in each others
neighborhoods ?
