Hello,
If I set up web server software how do I connect it to all of the
other net site out there?  Also About how much will it cost?
                Thanks in advance

1. WWW Server; starting up

It all depends what you want to do.  If you want to set up a few personal
pages, then a 386 running MS-Windows w/a 24-hr, 7-day PPP connection will
probably work.  I'm actually running a web server on this computer, a
386SX/25 (though with a direct Internet connection via a 46KBps leased line),
and it isn't a dedicated machine...but it isn't nearly as fast as it would be
if I was using a Pentium running some version of Unix or Windows NT as a
dedicated box.  The first thing you will need is, at bare minimum, a SLIP
connection (I highly reccomend ISDN or leased line if you can afford it).
Then, you need a computer w/web server software (and a TCP/IP stack,
etc...same as you'd need to run TCP/IP clients such as Netscape and Mosaic)
for your particular platform.  Check out the various lists of different server
software variants around...I know Yahoo and the W3 Consortium
<http://www.w3.org/> both have some listings.  If you want to know more about
how I have this computer setup as a web server, please email me; I'd be glad
to help.  (BTW, if you want to check it out, the URL for this computer is in
my .sig).
