Reboot your computer, now try the infamous 3 finger salute
of Crtl-Alt-Del.  If The "Close Program" window does not
appear, try another keyboard.
If it does, then what you ask about may indicate a "hard"
lockup, from which recovery may be nearly impossible except for
removal of AC power plug.

<snip>
Is there any reason why when I press the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys
the program box will not open?
Thankx,
Msh

Hello,

Well guys I have been beating my brains out for months on
this issue. I was once told a month ago to do a
combination of key checks and I thought I had done it and
the key check checked out. My keyboard isn't very old at
all. (within 6 months). so recently I reformatted my whole
computer and the close program box still did not pop up.
well to get to the point after this post again your
suggestion was A NEW KEY BOARD!!!
Stubborn me I just got back from staples with a new
keyboard. Guess what? It works now....smiles!
You guys are great!!! Since I've found out about this
community help newsgroup, it has giving me a new meaning
to my computer experience.

I can't thank you enough, all of you..

Sometimes it's the simple things in life that cause the greatest problems.  The important thing is you are up and running.

1. startup waits for ctrl+alt+del keys to continue

I have to press ctrl+alt+del to continue loading personal settings most
of the time.  Some times it continues right into the desktop.  Most of
the time it waits.  How do I correct this?

I have also had to reinstall XP and when I try to reactivate, it says I
do not have to.  I did not activate right after the second install.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Craig
