Hi Gary,
I had the same problem with my officejet v40, so you have to use this
setting:
1: click start, and right-click my computer
2: click Properties, and select the hardware tab
3: click the devicer manager
4: double click the universal serial bus controllers branch to expand
5: rick click usb root hub and view properties
6: click power manegemant
7: de-select the allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
checkbox. This setting can cause communications issues.
8: click OK and close it

When you're printer is already installed you're finished. For me it works!

Otherwise you have to plug-in the USB cable to the PC and HP all in one
product, turn the HP on and start your computer. Attention you're PC must be
off when you put the cable in the port!
When XP starts it will recognize your printer and will install the drivers

good luck,

1. HP OfficeJet v40xi Problem

I've been reading through this newsgroup and I've noticed
everybody is having problems printing through XP.  I have
three laptops here, all running XP Pro, two connecting to
HP OfficeJet v40xi and one connecting to HP OfficeJet 720,
and can't get any of them to work.  They aren't printing
at all.  If nobody knows what's going on with this, can
anybody recommend an all in one multifuncitonal printer
other than the ones listed above that work with XP?  I
have remote employees that are down because I can't get
their laptops out to them until I get this resolved.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
