lost sndvol32.exe, how do I reinstall it back on windows xp?

Hi all, after using windows xp for about 3 months, one day
I just lost the little speaker icon to control volume.
after going in the control panel, sound, and click on show
icon, it said to install the sndvol32.exe using add/remove
program. I've check it out and could not figur out how to
do it. Could any one help me on the matter?
Thanks,
Peter

1. need to reinstall SndVol32.exe--advanced volume controls

please help--I can't seem to use my mic 'cause i
inadvertantly screwed up the sndvol32 file (the advanced
volume controls).  does anyone know how i can reinstall
this without completely reinstalling windows XP again.
i've already tried add/remove hardware and found the file
on the XP disc, but it claims it can't open the file as
the extension is EX_.  is there anyway to open this file?-
--any help is tremendously appreciated!!
thanks,
mandy
