Windows XP printing problems while using word and novell groupwise 6

Post by Kirby Honeycut » Wed, 16 Apr 2003 06:33:08

I have windows XP professional installed on an Hp pavilion
xt375.  I am also using Office XP professional and Novell
Groupwise 6.o.  When I try to print to a network printer
on a novell network (HP 4). I can get one print (the first
job sent) and then it gives me errors and tells me that
word will be shut down the autosave feature will save the
document so I can retrieve my document. Groupwise tends to
do the same thing.  I have reinstalled the print drives,
and I have run a repair on the office installation.

I am also having a problem with another machine that is
running Win 2000 and Excel.  Only when it doesn't print I
get an *.exe error and it stops the print spooler in the
administrative tools of the control panels.  It does also
tend to lock up the machine.

Thank you

Try turning off bi-directional support.

Start - printers - select printer - set printer
properties - ports.
This solved many of my errors....good luck !

Thank you for the advice, but it did not work.  Have any
other ideas that I might try?
Again Thanks
Kirby

1. Windows XP Professional, Office 97 Schedule+, Novell Groupwise

I have an end user that had Windows 95 & Office 97 using
Schedule+.  The user now has a new computer with Windows
XP Professional & Office XP Professional & wants to use
Schedule+ as he did before.  His data is stored  on our
Internal Network.  When using the Office 97 CD he can view
his files in Schedule+.  Can I install just the Office 97
Schedule+ on the new computer with Windows XP
Professional? Will Schedule+ work in a Windows XP

Schedule+ is not part of Office XP Professional as it was
with Office 97.  Is Schedule+ now a separate product?  The
end user would prefer not to use Office XP Professional
Outlook.  Also with our Internal Network we experience
problems with our Novell Groupwise Email when using
Outlook.
Thank you for your help & assistance.
