I recently installed two different brands of USB 2.0
PCMCIA cards for my laptop. Both brands, IODATA and
Orange Micro, cause audio playing from music CDs or
streaming audio to contain a fairly regular popping sound
(every few seconds), almost like a record with a
scratch. It also may sound like audio clipping.
When I remove the card the audio is clean.
There is a knowledge base article that describes a
similar problem when using USB 2.0 and USB speakers, but
I am not using USB speakers.
Does anyone have any ideas? So far Orange Micro has been
unable to solve this problem, although they are trying to
reproduce it.
I am running XP Pro on a Toshiba Satellite 1800-S254 with
256mb RAM and a PIII.
