Power Management Problem

Power Management Problem

Post by Stew Gitli » Thu, 12 Jun 2003 13:39:36

I just switched from a dial-up modem setup, to a high-speed cable
modem setup.  I am running Windows XP Home Edition on a HP Pavillion
734n computer.  Prior to changing to cable modem, I had no problem
using Windows XP Stand-by mode.  It worked fine.  Now, when I go into
Stand-by mode, within less than a minute, the system will pop right
back up again to whatever was on the screen prior to going into
Stand-by mode.

I also tried just using the system's Power Management settings instead
of manually invoking Stand-By.  The monitor and disk drive power off
after the set number of minutes, and then a couple of minutes later,
they're back on again.

I've even tried closing all Task Bar applications, and deactivated
Zone Alarm and Backweb, to no avail.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this, and how to correct the
problem?

Thanks in advance,

Stew Gitlin

Device Manager - NIC card - power management - " turn off allow this device
to bring computer out of standby".

That was the answer, and solved the problem.

Thank you very much.
