Explorer hogging processor

Explorer hogging processor

Post by Bill » Sun, 28 Apr 2002 02:00:56

I have a machine with XP Home edition and I can't do
anything because explorer.exe is hogging the processor at
99%.  The machine won't go past the "LOGGING OFF" screen
when I try to shut it down either so I can't even perform
a system restore.

I have tried selective start ups, start up in safe mode
and still have the same problem.

Any suggestions??

1. Media player 7 is an OVERBLOATED PROCESSOR HOGGING OBSCINITY

Playing an MP3 with windows media player 7 consumes 40% of the processor
utilization of my P-II 350. Visualations are turned off. Playing the same file
with winamp uses 1% - 2% processor utilization. Is microsoft working with
Intel to get people to buy new processors or something?

Didn't microsoft used to have standards for user interfaces? This program is
aweful. The user interface is terrible. I don't need the user interface
designed around pretty flashy displays little "skins", and little slide out
panels that animate worth a damn to begin with. How did this thing get
released?

Geesus you can't even have the damn thing scan a directory tree and add all
the music files to your playlist.. Worthless overbloated pile of garbage..
