phone noise?

Post by ·Scott » Wed, 28 Nov 2001 20:37:08

There are little magnet gadgets available at Radio Shack that can help with certain kinds of
interference on phone lines.  Basically, the phone line gets fed through the magnet a few times
under the theory that this will help cancel out noise.  I've never seen one do any good, though.
Just a thought.

Your phone company will probably cop out of helping you (mine would anyway--and I work for them!) on
the basis that "We are only responsible for the phone line up to the point where it enters your
house.  It looks like the inside wiring is the problem, so you will have to pay for any service."
It's worth a shot at giving them a call, though, perhaps even if you have to pay.  You can have the
line conditioned, but you usually have to pay for that.

Try going to control panel > phone and modem options > modems > properties >
modem  and set the speaker volume to "off."

You talk too much.

What the hell are you talking about?  I tried to help too much?  What happened is rather simple yet
embarassing; I read the original message ultra fast, and totally misunderstood it.  It didn't help
that it was poorly worded.  But your * response is totally out of line.  My god I wish you
were standing in front of me right now.

Wow, what a chronology we have here.

1) Guy A reads a post in a newsgroup, makes an honest mistake, but gives a reply in a sincere effort
to help.

2) Guy B reads Guy A's post, and follows up with a totally unnecessary personal insult.

3) Guy A is annoyed by Guy B's extraneous and baseless affront.

Obviously, Guy A is totally wrong.  Oh yeah.  Keep drinking.
