After clicking on the solitaire icon, it started searching for the
components for it. It said something about a missing .dll file. Now when I
click on the icon, it won't do anything.

Uninstall and reinstall games via the add remove icon in the control panel.
See if this fixes it. In case you have trouble find how to remove solitaire,
click START, Control Panel, add remove programs. Choose add/remove windows
components. Double-click accessories and utilities. Double click games.
Untick soltaire and click ok. Click ok in case another window comes up. Then
do this procedure again and tick it (check the box as in American English)
and click ok and reload the game again. You might be prompted for the
windows Xp cd, so have it on-hand.
