XP Shuts down with insertion of USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card

Post by HD » Tue, 24 Jun 2003 03:16:38

Someone pleaseeee help! I purchased a USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card
for my HP ze1201 and everytime I insert it into windows,
after it installs the appropriate device drivers and
windows restarts, the computer will automatically shut
off. It doesn't go through any shutdown procedure, it
just shuts off completely and this happens if I want to
go into safe mode or regular mode.

The problem disappears when the pcmcia card is removed
from the slot. The problem occurs whether windows is
started up and ready to go or if it going through the
startup procedure.

I don't know what the hell is going on but I REALLLLY
need help. Oh yeah, the card uses NEC device drivers.

Thanks in advance.

1. USB Harddisk on Belkin USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card

Hi,

I will test a Belkin-USB 2 PCMCIA Card (with external
Power Adaptor) for a friend who has only USB 1.1 Slots on
his Notebook.

Many devices like the USB Bus powered CanoScan LiDE 20
works fine at the Belkin.
My Notebook is a Gericom Supersonic Force 2,5 GHz.
I had Windows XP SP1 with no additional fixes.

I had only a problem with a Fujitsu MHS2040AT USB
Harddisk.

When I attach the Drive to the Belkin (external powered!)
there is after the initial beep and the "New Hardware
found FUJITSU MHS2040AT USB Device" message an Hardware
installation error (The LED on the Harddisk lights red
most of the time).

When I attach the same USB Harddisk on an native USB 2.0
port on the same notebook the Disk works fine.

Who can help me.
