XP and ZA

Post by Walt » Fri, 11 Oct 2002 05:49:22

I am having a repeated problem with XP and (the latest version of) Zone
Alarm that is driving me crazy. I hope this is the correct forum.

I install a program that requires access to the internet (in this case
WinMX). When it attempts to connect for the first time, my machine hangs.

Pressing control\alt\delete repeatedly eventually brings up a ZA window
asking if I wish to give the program access, but the compouter is in a state
where I am not able to click on this window (or anything else for that
matter). I have to log out of my user account and reboot the computer.

I have tried manually adding the program to ZA and setting ZA to allow new
programs server rights automatically but neither of these methods work.

I would be grateful for any advice. If this is not the right forum please
tell me what is.

> I've had similar situations.First off,after you

rebooted your machine that program should have been
listed in ZA.Then you just click the question marks,
choose allow which replaces the question mark with a
checkmark and youre good to go. Also some programs can be
started in windowed mode(not full screen).Should be in
options. This way at least youll be able to see and
access the ZA popup which might validate your choice. And
dont forget to click the remember box.You can also email
ZA from thier tech support page.
