How to Remove Ghost Programs from the "Add or Remove Programs" List

Hi -- This may be something I am overlooking but . . .

When you do a System Recover using Windows XP it only restores the
configuration.  So, if you remove a program on Tuesday and on
Wednesday you do a system restore for Tuesday, you get Tuesday's
configuration BUT you also get a ghost entry in "Add or Remove
Programs" for the program you removed on Tuesday.  And good luck
trying to remove it!

Can anyone relate to this?  Before I go hacking around the registry,
were you able to find a simpler fix for this?  Any assistance will be
greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

R Bolling

Believe TweakUI will do that.

That's strange - on Win98+ if you get a ghost entry it will offer to remove
it for you.

I had the reverse problem with that - I downloaded a whole bunch of stuff
from the internet, did some programming, etc, etc, ran system restore and it
deleted all the stuff I'd downloaded and it didn't restore my programs it
just deleted them (f***ing annoying!)  So I'm never going to use that
feature again (or at least I'll treat it the same way as I treat 'format'
;-)
