Multiple occurences of the same IIS Web Applications in "COM+ Applications" under WinXP

Hi,

I'm trying to fix a problem that I have with VI not willing to debug a specific
web application under Windows XP. Lately I opened administrative tool "Component
Services" and went into "COM+ Applications" for I know there are components
there that relate to IIS Web applications.

I saw multiple occurrences of some existing web applications (e.g. IIS-{Default
Web site//Root/Samples}) and some that do not exist. The differences between
multiple occurrences of the same application can either the Application ID
and/or the security account.

Since there is a component for an application that does not exist anymore, can I
safely delete if from Component Services? Then I suppose only one component is
used, other "copies" are irrelevant and can be deleted?

Hi Vince,

Thank you for your post!

I believe if you are sure the component is not referred by any application,
it can be deleted.  Otherwise, we do not suggest to remove this component.

About the multiple occurrance of the component, it may be required by some
certain COM components.  I do not suggest you remove them.

1. Application "pvbctrl", "pvbload", "ceregcli" etc. illegal operation ??????

Hi there,

I've got a Husky Fex 21 HPC and i'm trying to build a program using Visual
Basic 6.0. I've got the Platform SDK ver. 2.11 and  Windows Services ver.
2.2.
I don't know what really happens but when for example i'm launching the
control manager or the registry editor it connects with the HPC but as soon
as the client program is about to start i've always have this message
"Application xxxx ->(pvbctrl, pvbload, ceregcli, cezcli, .... and actually
all the remote tools) has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
down.   Program:xxx, Exception 0x0000005, Address:xxx".
The Platform i use is the HPC Pro.
I can't figure out why this is happening. I've even taken out the backup
batteries but nothing...
Any ideas about it...???
