Spell check...

Post by Brui » Wed, 27 Aug 2003 18:06:20

Just loaded XP Pro on my wife's machine.  OE Express 6.0 says, "An error
occurred while the spelling checked".  Then I seem to remember something
about needing Office for spell check to work on Outlook Express.  So I break
out our only version of Office, Office 97 &  load it up with the SPs..

Still get the error message.

We both run OE 6.0, 6.00.2800.1123.   We both run Office 97 with the latest
Service Packs.  The only difference is she now has XP Pro & I am running
Win98SE.

My copy of XP Pro is sitting here waiting for me to load it.  Can I look
forward to also losing spell check?

The most common problem with WinXP and Office 97 is that Csapi3T1.dll is
missing from the PROOF folder (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\PROOF).

You can expand it from CSAPI3T1.DL_ in the \i386 directory on your WinXP
CD.
Go to Start | Run and type this command:

expand x:\i386\CSAPI3T1.DL_  C:\CSAPI3T1.DLL

Where X: is your CD drive.  Then move it from the root directory of C:
to
the PROOF folder.  Some people also have to put it in the Outlook
Express
program folder.

yes, i believe it is the combination of XP and OE6 that
leaves you without spellcheck on your email unless you
install office XP.  so i've been told.
