Can you merge identies for messages?

It seems that each time you have to reload Windows XP you are given an new
identity for your emails.  Is there anyway to blend together the messages
that are in both your old & new identity?  Could you just rename the new
identity to that of the old & then just drag the messages across?

Thanks in advance

Are you sure it is a new Identity (which would create a new {USER_ID} ) and
not a problem with the Folders.dbx file?

If you don't have Windows set to show all files (hidden and otherwise) and
extensions, open Windows Explorer click on Tools | Folder Options | Views
tab

Now, select "Show all files" and uncheck "Hide file extensions for known
file types".   Not others need to be unchecked.

Apply then OK.

Now, from OE, click on Tools | Options | Maintenace tab.
Press the Store Folders button.
Note the location of the current message stores and note it's {USER_ID}

Close OE.

Go to that folder in Windows Explorer and check  to see if there is a an
Inbox.dbx and possibly an Inbox(X).dbx  where X is a number.

If so, it would be a problem with the dbx files.

Create a new folder and move the DBX files into it.
Grab DBXtract and extract the messages from that temp folder and from each
dbx file. DBXtract will default to the message stores folder and you can
easily browse to any other folder.

Now, open OE.
Create a new mail folder in OE.
Drag and drop the .eml files into this new mail folder (not the Inbox or
other default created folder).

You should have a stable setup now.
