I can tab to either of these controls to give them focus. How can I select
or deselect them from the keyboard, i.e., without using the mouse?

1. read-only checkboxes and radio buttons changable
Internet Explorer 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, and 4.0 ignore the "readonly" attribute on
the <input> element when the type attribute is set to "checkbox" "radio".
In other words, read-only radio buttons and checkboxes are not treated as
read-only.
