OE 6 substituting a random temp file name for the real file name.....

Post by Maestr » Sat, 03 Jul 2004 04:56:58

...basically, when I try to save an image file to disk, I get an apparently
random alphanumeric file name suggested in the filename field, rather than
the original filename of the downloaded file.  This occurs in newsgroups.

Ever heard of this?  Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Maestro,

I agree with Kelly. I cannot reproduce this issue on my side. Did you
experience this problem with every post that has an image attachment? Does
this issue occur on other machines? Does this issue also occur with
non-image files?

In addition, I'd like to know what the newsgroup you were viewing is.

Sincerely,

1. file name changes to "copy of old file name"

I am storing my jpeg photo files in a directory that is
not in "my documents".  For some reason the file names of
about 25% of my photo files are now prefexed with "copy
of, old file name". Since the file names have been changed
the photo viewer that I am using can no longer find these
files. Any idea as to what caused these to become copies.
I download my photos directly into a directory named
C:\photo which has about 20 sub-directories.
thanks for any help, pete
