Hi Brendon,
Quote:> I'm trying to create some MPEG2 audio files for download.
From what you've said, it sounds as though you're actually
looking for MPEG layer 2 audio, rather than MPEG2.
It's worth noting that some bitrates are not supported in
layer 2 audio. Most of the cheaper and nastier encoders do
not prevent you from encoding at a bitrate which the MPEG
spec says is illegal, so you either need to know the legal
bitrates, or you need to use an encoder which prevents you
from using the illegal ones (stating the obvious!)
The following information might help (taken from the
ISO/IEC 11172-3 specification).
Bit Rate (kbits/sec) Allowed Modes
Free Format All modes
32 Single channel (SC)
48 SC
56 SC

Audio playing too fast is a typical symptom of encoding at an illegal bit
rate. Try one of the modes above.

I don't know how the Xing player works - if it can't play back stereo
MPEG audio at all, then this may be a fundamental limitation on the files
you can play. I'd suggest getting a file encoded at a legal bitrate, and
going from there. I'm afraid it might be trial and error.
Hope this helps,
Glenn
