Q329979 causes error

Post by Richar » Wed, 07 May 2003 03:04:01

I get the same error when paging through My Music on my
873n. I logged a call with HP and was told to do a system
restore :(

Please make sure you click the report error to MS option.
The more reports of this from unique machine, the more
likely they are going to investigate it.

Regards
Richard

Q329979 causes error

Post by lamad » Wed, 07 May 2003 08:10:23

With crashes in Media Center, it would be helpful if you included the
contents of c:\windows\ehome\ehshell.crash.  This tells the dev team
the location of the error.  Also, if you can upload the "Faulting
Bucket" information (also located in the event log), that would help
the dev team get more information about the crash.

Actually, I've only used system restore to back out.  I
havn't tried just uninstalling the patch.  When I do the
system restore the problem goes away.  But I'm assuming I
need the patch for better system stability.

See contents of ehshell.crash below

Carmel,

Can you try and re-setup the TV portion of Media Center?  You should be able
to do this through the Settings.  Thanks.

Q329979 causes error

Post by Carmel Abel » Fri, 09 May 2003 01:15:54

Hi,

no luck.  I re-setup both the TV signal and the Guide and
then installed Q329979 and got the same problem.  I then
uninstalled the patch using add/remove programs and the
problem persisted.  The only way for me to get MC running
again is to use a system restore point prior to the
install of Q329979.

1. Q329979: Critical Update Install Failure

Using Windows update, my computer has tried numerious times to install the
following update...Q329979 Critical Update. The installation fails to
complete. Is there something I need to change? I tried installing manually
and received an error saying...
"Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the
Cryptographic service is running on the computer." Any suggestions?  Thanks.
