Dlimport error with installation of embedded WindowsMedia Player on Win 98 se

Post by Allen Botnic » Wed, 08 May 2002 22:13:52

I have a system running Windows 98 sec ed.  While surfing
the web I found a site that had some sound content.  When
I clicked a link to a song it asked me for permission to
download the WindowsMedia player that is embedded in the
window (I already had the separate version for mpeg files
install with no problem).

Immediately after downloading this porgram my computer
began giving me errors about the Dlimport program on start
up saying it was creating an invalid page fault.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I couldn't believe that the Microsoft knowledge base told
me to restore a Ghosted version or pay them for help!
What a joke.

Go tell the people you talked to that this-
 http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html#mdac
is the magic answer, and that the above FAQ page should cover about 3/4 of
the WMP-related issues they get.  :)

Anyways- that should get you going again.  :)

1. Windowsmedia Player 7.0 NO AUDIO - WIN 98 CLIENTS

When I embed the windows media player 7.0 and access it from a Windows 98
machine I do not get any audio. When I access the same file from a 2000
machine I get the audio. Does any one know what is happening ?

This happens only on a live event whether it is multicast or unicast.

Thanks for you help
