This happens to mine occasionally. Open the unit fully, then keep downward
pressure on the front edge of the keyboard while you close the S5 up. If you
press upwards, or the keyboard catches on something as it's closing and gets
lifted a little, it can come off its track at one or both sides.
Consequently the screen will fail to close all the way, and feels as though
the spring has stopped pulling it shut.

I'd say you need to develop a different closing technique to the one you've
been using.

1. Q: Serious Hardware problem with S5 :-(

Hello Everyone!

I hope someone can help me with this problem. I took my Psion S5 with me
on my one-year travels through Australia, and am using it for my E-mail
and personal diary. Unfortunately, since this morning it won't come on
anymore. Whenever I press the ON key, it just b eeps twice and does
nothing. I replaced the batts, but no luck. I did get it to power up
twice (by pressing ON all the time) but it was only on for about 10
seconds becore it died again. I have a strong feeling that this is a
software problem.

I was hoping someone here can help me. Does anyone know if there is some
kind of 'soft-reset' or a 'safe-mode' kind of thing? I really would like
to get my data back, it includes my personal diary :-((

Oh, BTW: I used it with a flash card a few times, but it did the same:
crashing and beeping.. And ultimately destroyed the card. So there might
be something wrong with the hardware too.

I hope I'm not asking a FAQ here, but I don't have a lot of IOnternet
access now, so I can't look for it, sorry.

Regards,

Tycho Schenkeveld
