: Yes, I have recently tried the release-level s3_16m drivers, with the same
: result. I think I have narrowed the problem down to creating the right
: SVGADATA file with the SVGA ON command. I think this needs to be done under
: native DOS since WPS won't sync on the monitor, but I have an all-HPFS drive.
: Also SVGA.EXE doesn't seem to run from a floppy. I plan to continue working
: on this when I have the time, but right now I am using smaller multi-sync
: monitors instead.
I have some good news and bad news regarding my experiences with the new
drivers and SVGA application. The good news is that the SVGADATA.PMI file
generated under DOS (SVGA ON DOS) and by the driver installation is FINALLY
identical except for comments. The bad news is that I still can't run SVGA
inside an OS/2 full-screen DOS session after driver installation without
bringing down the whole system.
With regards to the refresh rate, I haven't noticed a change from the beta.
I still have a hard time believing my monitor is being driven at 60 Hz
(at 1280x1024) given the severe eye pain I endure when bright images are
displayed. The first poster's comment about PM not being able to sync to
his fixed frequency monitor seems to confirm this.
