Win-os2 Sound Crashes Session

Win-os2 Sound Crashes Session

Post by bake.. » Wed, 20 Sep 1995 04:00:00

I installed Win-os2 sound support for my sb16 following the suggestions in the Warp
desktop information documentation.  I do have sound by repeated use crashes the
Win-os2 session.  In particular:

Repeatedly pushing the "test" button in control panel sound window will give "CONTROL caused a General Protection Fault in module KEYBOARD.DRV at 000A:0307" after five or six
pushes.

Repeating an AVI file (with sound) in the Win-os2 media player will give "MPLAYER caused
.. KEYBOARD.DRV at 000A:028B" when a key is pushed after the repeat.

A second error in Matlab for Windows does similarly with the message "MATLAB caused ...
KEYBOARD.DRV at 000A:008D".

Clearly, these crashes seem related to the sound driver squashing the keyboard driver but
I can't seem to find a fix.  I updated the Win and OS2 drivers with the latest from
Creative Labs.  It made no difference.  I can't be productive in MATLAB if every two errors
force a restart of the Win-os2 session!

The system:  Warp Connect (no LAN installed)
                   P-133 w/Triton Chips + 64M 60ns RAM
                   1.2Gb Samsung HD (Boot)
                   1.0Gb Western Digital HD (Data)
                   Radius Firestorm 64 video
SoundBlaster 16 and Creative 2X CDROM (default settings except IRQ=10)
                   Boca 28.8 Fax/Modem (Com2, IRQ3)

If anyone can help, please post here or e-mail me.

Thanks,
Wil
