penftpd *DOES NOT* work with VMS Multinet 3.0

Post by Michele Marzia » Sat, 18 Mar 1995 00:41:16

I'm evaluating penftpd 1.01 and it seems to dislike the interaction with
the VAX/VMS Multinet 3.0 ftp client.

I can't even get a dir listing of my OS/2 directory since it's complaining
about an invalid "MODE S" command ('S' for stream?). Of course I have no
problems with the standard IBM TCP/IP 2.0 ftp daemon.

I realize that technical support is probably only for registered users.
I was hoping for a message acknowledgement at least.

Has anyone noticed similar problems?

Hello, Michael,

Hmm.  I just tried Multinet ftp 3.2 and it seemed to work fine
(here's the Multinet version line: kelvin.jpl.nasa.gov MultiNet FTP
user process 3.2(106)).  I had no problems at all. :/

The mail at his university seems to be really on the blink recently.
As a beta tester for this product, I can tell you that he is very
responsive.  Hopefully he'll chime in and try to offer you
assistance.

Have you looked at your ftpcmd.log file to see what PenFtpd is
saying?  Is the complaint you mentioned coming from PenFtpd?

1. Warp 3.0 Newbie Question:DOS and WIN-OS/2 not working.

Newbie question:

I just bought OS/2 Warp 3.0 Fullpack and have just completed its installation.
Everything on the OS/2 applications side is working(basic system to Bonus Pak).
Unfortunately when I open a DOS session prompt(windowed and full-screen) there
is no C: prompt, just a white one-character line where the C should be. QBasic
and MSDiagnostics just give me a black screen when I click on their respective icons.

The "WIN-OS/2" and "Windows Programs" do open up but the icons just stay "slashed"
when I click on them. They don't open at all(they don't close either, even if I try
deleting them in the "Window List", or, when I perform a shutdown).

The following settings in my config.sys are correct according to the manual(pg. 199):

DOS=LOW,NOUMB

; and,

DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VSVGA.SYS

I tried changing my display's resolution from 1024x768(65,535 colors) to the lowest
resolution but that didn't do anything.

Am I right to think that this is just a display problem or is there something else I should
look into?

Any suggestions(except those of changing to Win95 or NT) are welcome.

Bruno.
