FP12: good FPak, good FPak.

I get the feeling that FP12 has stabilized my system: PPro, 440 FX
chipset, all E-IDE, S3 Virge/VX video, Rockwell v90 modem.  Clobbered my ESS-1868
sound though.

If I can remember your original post, you said something about the ESS 1868
card right?

Well.. you need the updated drivers (not the ESS sight but the IBM Driver page)

2nd this card really isn't PnP, did you add or remove any hardware prior to
installing Fixpack 12?

I had a problem with it due to my SCSI card. I found out that you have to set
the IRQ's DMA manually using a DOS program. You then need to set these values
as used by a legacy ISA adapter in your BIOS.

1. FPak Application Strategy

Would anyone please give me some advice on how to apply Fixpak 26 while still
preserving my current FP22 environment. My disk partitions are as follows:
         c: dos (10 mg)
         d: FAT files (100 mg)
         e: win 3.1 sytem (40 mg)
         f: HPFS apps (500 mg)
         g: OS2 system FP22 (100 mg)
         h: OS2 beta (140 mg)

I tried to use PartitionMagic 3.01 to hide the g: partition and put h: on the
bootmanager menu after, of course, copying the contents of g: to h:. I thought
this would cause h: to boot up as g:, then I could apply FP26 to the new "g:"
and test it. If anything went wrong I could unhide the real g: and boot back
into my FP22 system. This didn't seem to work, however, 'cause whenever I
tried to boot up the h: copy (with g: hidden) I either came up with a really
screwed up desktop or couldn't boot up at all.

Anyway, If anyone has any hints on how to apply a Fixpak while preserving the
old system "just in case" I'd appreciate hearing your advice. TIA
