Removable Disk: SyQuest vs MO

Removable Disk: SyQuest vs MO

I've got an older Syquest (SQ5110) I got surplus, that takes 88MB carts.
It works fine under OS/2, once I trashed the parallel port to SCSI
interface, and got the LOCKDRV filter.

Does anyone have any used 88MB carts for sale?

What's the MTTF for the carts?

Did a higher storage capacity in that form factor ever come out?

Is there yet an OS/2 driver for these that allows hot removal?

See my previous message. How long ago did you buy your 2842? I don't
recall seeing any of the removable stuff in the diskettes I have.

Also, my SyQuest (5110) is older, and my 88MB carts are like 5in x 5in. They
also made a 44MB in that form factor.

Kenny,

I got one of the new Syquest SCSI 270MB drives and is it
nice.  I hooked one to an Adaptec 2842 and the other to
an UltraStor14f and they work slick.  I use them to do my
backups on ( 500MB+ when using compression ) at hard drive
speeds.  The 270MB cartridges cost me $60 each.  The
Adaptec diskettes (EZ SCSI<tm>) which came with my 2842 also
provided 'Lock', 'Unlock' and 'Eject' executables and the
BIOS on the 2842 allows you to specify that a removable
media drive be treated 1) always as a floppy, 2) as a Hard
Disk only if booted from, or 3)always as a Hard Disk.  The
diskettes also provided a complete new set of drivers for
all of their SCSI adapters which now include Floptical,
MagnetOptical, as well as the removable media support. They
also allow driver buffering ( eleminates the >16MB problem)
for their ISA adapters.  Neat Stuff !!!

1. SyQuest SyJet Removable Disk Media

Had been using SyQuest SyJet 1.5G device  on Adaptec SCSI 2940UW  successfully
for several years.  It died yesterday , so I'm looking for a similar product
friendly to Adaptec 2940UW and OS/2 Warp 4.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.
