Hi all,

I recently got back to using OS/2 Warp after a long hiatus. While
going through some stuff, I came across 3 files with the extension of
*.dsk. Does anyone know what these extensions are, and if so, could
you tell me? I am thinking disk images, since the 3 files and number
1,2,3 and are all the same size, which is the size of a 1.44 floppy.
If it is a image, what program do I use to get at them? If not, what
should/can I do? Thanks all...

Use LOADDSKF.EXE to write a floppy with these image files. LOADDSKF.EXE
sits on your OS/2 CD-ROM

You are correct, they are image files.  To make use of them, you need to use
the loaddsk utility.  I forget the exact syntax of it, but there is a readme
for that command.

Yes, they are what you think they are.  The most common tool to
make the disks from is probably LOADDSKF.EXE and it is widely
available.  You can probably find it at hobbes or get it from
IBM.  I wonder if it is also somewhere on the Warp CD?

1. Bad move: all .DSK files for 2.1 CSD in a single .ZIP file

I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to compress all the .DSK
files for the 2.1 CSD into a single .ZIP file on ftp.cdrom.com?  I had
to download 3 times.   The first two times, I got about 10M of the 25M
archive before the FTP transfer aborted.  So in effect, I downloaded
the files almost twice.  It sure would have been nice if I could have
restarted from where the transfer left off.

Then when I finally got a good download, I noticed that the .ZIP file
was in the older PKZIP 1.x format, not 2.X.

Boy, compressing those files sure saved *me* a lot of time! :-(
