Epson MX-100 printer vs. OS/2 (and Windows)

I have an MX-100 printer which has the "Dots Perfect" chips

Applications which understand ATM and such like seem to drive the
thing only in the plotting mode.  It looks real nice, except that
either the MX-100 isn't up to it in principle, or mine is old and

What happens is that on each page a few lines of dots are either
cut short or have gaps in them.  On a picture, that doesn't make
much difference, but on a letter, it isn't nice.

Is there anything which will enable these programs to use the
builtin fonts?
