Quicken 7?  Do you mean Quicken 98?

You just need to have your ISP connection running prior to using an Quicken
facilities which require the net (like Online Banking and Bill Payment,
Portfolio updates, etc.).

When you go through the Internet Connect setup dialog, it will claim that it
can't find an Internet Connection.  But that's fine.  It just advises you
that you'll have to "pre-start your connection" before using Quicken's
Internet facilities and that's the truth.

1. Why MS wants Quicken (was: Kiss OS/2 Quicken Bye-Bye)

While Quicken is a very successful product, this is hardly a thumb
of the nose at OS/2.  Microsoft wants very much to be the
"information superhighway" company.  There have already been serious
talks with several banks to provide online services with MS products
as the front-end.  Think how Quicken could fit into this picture.
This acquisition is a big step toward Microsoft domination of
the consumer online market.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it. Opinions expressed = mine.
