Post by Christopher Sakezle » Wed, 02 Jul 1997 04:00:00

To those of you that use OS/2, win95, and winNT, Do you know if there
are any products like Object Desktop available for windows 95 and NT.
I've gotten used to the OD control center and want something comparable
for windows . . .

If you don't mind, please post replies to comp.os.os2.misc or email me

Thanks,

You can get the real thing.  A version of Object Desktop is in the process of
being developed for NT/95.

The Control Center is almost done for Win32 in fact.  Anyone interested in

BTW, so that there's no confusion, the OS/2 version is also in parallel
development as well.

It's going to be quite awhile before there's a full shrink wrapped
version of Object Desktop NT.

What we're going to do is follow a path similar to what we're currently
planning to do with Power Series for Object Desktop (OS/2) which is:

As components get completed, they will become available on our commerce
server as well as available in an Object Desktop subscription.

By the end of the summer, we hope to have the Control Center, Tab
LaunchPad, Text View, Active Java (boy with Microsoft hate that feature)
and Object Zip completed.

Because the needs of OS/2 usres and Win32 users are different, there
will be differences between the two (for example, there won't be a
HyperDrives for the NT version or an Object Navigator).

But eventually when there is a shrink wrapped version they'll probably
be initially seperate and then eventually both in a single box.
