1. SONET Problem

Hello everyone!! I got a problem that I can't solve.
Please help me if you can. Thank You!!!

Problem: When using SONET or SDH, it is useful to be able to transport
packets that originate from an asynchronous source. Briefly explain the
difficults and how SDH/SONET manage this.

I feel that this is an Asynchronous vs Synchronous problem, is it??
Please enlighten me with the answer, or if you prefer, you can also give me
