printing from HP to APPLE printer

printing from HP to APPLE printer

Has anyone implemented any solution (software or hardware) to allow
printing from an HPUX workstation (9000/782) running 10.20, to an apple
printer? Unfortunately this printer (LW PRO 630) while on an ethernet
network does not implement the TCP/IP protocol and can't have an IP
address set.

My understanding is that this can be done via a program like CAP (but it
keeps dumping cores when I try to patch it) or failing to compile
directly. There is also a program called netatalk but it is not made for
the HP. I guess this could also be done via some type of printer interface
which allows setting an IP address.

Anyway, I would really appreciate it if anyone has actually implemented a
solution and would be willing to share it directly. I just don't have
enough programming experience to figure out why CAP is bombing or to fix
netatalk for the HP

Thanks,

Darren Gitelman

To get random signatures put text files into a folder called 3Random Signatures2 into your Preferences folder.

Gitelman) cost the 'net hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to say:

One solution is to get a Gatorbox from Cayman systems.  This
is like a bridge between tcp/ip and appletalk zones and contains an
lpd for any printers on the appletalk zones.  Pretty cool.  Pretty
expensive.  Last check pegged the devices at $5K CDN.
