Help ! Can't start X-Server ...

Post by Bruce H. Frage » Fri, 12 Jan 1996 04:00:00

After an unexpected power fail last week my HP710 has not been able to
start VUE. The Xerrors file shows the following message referencing a
file that is not on my machine. A friend who has a similar machine says
he does not have the file on his machine, but VUE runs fine, so I am
confused. We are both running HP/UX 9.0.x.

error (pid 169): Server for display mercury.ncgnet.com:0 can't be started.
/lib/dld.sl: Can't open shared library: /usr/lib/X11/extensions/libhprop.sl
/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory

Would appreciate if someone could shed light on this for me or better yet,
give suggestions to fix it. Do I need to get this file or is the Xstartup
confused ???

thx ... bruce

Check the size of X servers itself. It might be different from that
of your friends, and you might need for this versions of X.

Just a thought.
