Problems with GCC

Post by Juergen Ritte » Wed, 13 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Hi there,

we just updated to HP-UX 10.20 and now we habe problems with the GNU C
Compiler (GCC). We used GCC 2.7.2.1 (and the GNU Binutils) on HP-UX
10.01 without any problems. Now, on HP-UX 10.20 with GCC 2.8.1 even the
"Hello-World"-program doesn't work. Here is the program:

    #include <stdio.h>
    int main ()
    {
       printf ("Hallo Welt!");
    }
When using  GCC I get the following message:
    as: "/var/tmp/cca16143.s", line 23: error 1052: Directive name not
recognized -
    NSUBSPA

What's wrong here? Can anyone give me a hint?

Bye
Juergen

Looks like the wrong assembler is being  used.
Use gcc -v to see which assembler is used.

1. Problems building GCC 3.3 on HP-UX 11.11

Hi,

I'm attempting to build the GCC 3.3 release on an HP-UX 11.11 system.
After downloading the release, I'm doing the following:

  $ cd <gcc source dir>
  $ export CC=/opt/ansic/bin/cc  # Using HP's ANSI-C Compiler
  $ ./configure \
    --with-ld=/usr/bin/ld \
    --prefix=/usr/local/gcc-3.3
  $ /usr/local/make-3.80/bin/make \
    CFLAGS='-O2 +DAportable -Wp,-H50000' bootstrap

Unfortunately it is failing during the compile of 'c-opts.c' with the
following messages:

 /opt/ansic/bin/cc -c   -g  -DIN_GCC     -DHAVE_CONFIG_H
 -I. -I. -I. -I./. -I./config -I./../include c-opts.c -o c-opts.o
 cpp: "c-opts.c", line 249: error 4051: Catenated input line too long
  - use -H option.
 cpp: "c-opts.c", line 1080: error 4015: Macro param too large -
   use -H option.
 cpp: "c-opts.c", line 1797: error 4016: Unexpected end of macro
   invocation.
 cpp: "c-opts.c", line 1797: warning 2004: OPT: Too many parameters
   (12) to  macro.
 make[2]: *** [c-opts.o] Error 1

so it is not propagating my CFLAGS down to the Makefile that generates
'c-opts.c'. Could any of you GCC experts out there give me a hint
about how to fix this error?

Thank you.
