PCI LAN ethernet card on B2000 with 10.20

Post by Fischer, Michae » Sat, 09 Jun 2001 19:59:39

Hi,
I've got a new B2000 and installed 10.20.
Additionally I installed a second LAN interface, which I'm unable to
configure with SAM as it does not show up at all.
ioscan -f gives me (among others):
# ioscan -f
Class       I  H/W Path       Driver    S/W State   H/W Type
Description
=============================================================================

......
lan         0  10/0/12/0      btlan3    CLAIMED     INTERFACE
PCI(10110019) -- Built-in #4
unknown    -1  10/1/3/0                 UNCLAIMED   UNKNOWN
PCI(10110019) -- 3

So, lan0 is the built-in one working perfectly, and my 2nd is the
UNKNOWN one installed in PCI slot 3.
What do I have to configure to see it in SAM?
Sorry, I'm a HP-UX newbie.

Thanks for any hint.

Michael Fischer

You need the btlan5 driver in the kernel. If the driver is not available, you
have to install the software B5509BA (do not hit me, if the number is wrong;
kmine is down at the moment) and the latest patch for this, which should be
PHNE_22542

Hi Florian,
thanks for it ...
I tried to install B5509BA_APZ (the one I have on my CD), but was not successful.
By copying/analyzing the SW with SAM, I get following error messages (there are
more of them similar ones):
         The prerequisite
         "OS-Core.CORE-KRN,r>=B.10.20.%,a=HP-UX_B.10.20_[7]00,v=HP" for
         fileset "100BT-PCI-KRN.100BT-KRN,r=B.10.20.06" cannot be
         successfully resolved.

I checked, I cannot find out why this can't be resolved.
After that I installed the latest patch bundle (General Release and HW bundle)
and tried again. But no difference.
Does anyone have some additional hints?

Thanks
Michael
