strange behavior of dired

Post by Francois Puit » Wed, 28 Jan 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

I have the following  problem with dired  in Xemacs-20.3 (on a sun box
running solaris 2.5): any command like c,  v, f, ...  yields the error
"no  file on this line" and  d makes emacs hang up  until I  put a C-g
???!!!???

Moreover, I get the same strange behavior when I start xemacs with the
-q option, so it can't be some weird code in my .emacs.

Can anyone help ?

This is not enough information to do something about the problem.
Please submit a bug report via M-x dired-report-bug.

1. 19.12 strange dired behavior (first invocation) with mode-motion+

Xemacs 19.12 (pre-built IRIX 5.3)

In .emacs, I'm hacking mouse following, etc for dired with
mode-motion+ as follows:

;;;; ********************
;;;; mode-motion+

(require 'mode-motion+)
(if (find-face 'dired-motion-hack)
    ()
  (make-face 'dired-motion-hack)
  (set-face-underline-p 'dired-motion-hack t)
  (set-face-foreground 'dired-motion-hack "white"))

(defadvice dired-install-menubar (after dired-mm+ activate)
  (setq mode-motion-hook 'mode-motion+-highlight))

This works in all dired buffers except for the FIRST find-file
invocation where the point follows mouse movement (with proper face),
but keystrokes cause point to move back to the last point at which a
keystroke or mouse press left the point. Thus, a dired action works on
this previous point rather than on the line the mouse indicates.

Any help?
