yacc and lex mode in XEmacs

Post by Stig Bjorlykk » Sat, 22 Mar 1997 04:00:00

Hi.

Is there anyone using yacc and lex who have a yacc/lex mode for
XEmacs?  Currently I'm using c-mode, but this doesn't work when I
write in the rules section.

Do I have to make my own?

cc-mode is working for me:
(setq auto-mode-alist
      (append '(("\\.C$"  . c++-mode)
                ("\\.cc$" . c++-mode)
                ("\\.hh$" . c++-mode)
                ("\\.cxx$" . c++-mode)
                ("\\.hxx$" . c++-mode)
                ("\\.yxx$" . c++-mode)
                ("\\.inl$" . c++-mode)
                ("\\.lxx$" . c++-mode)
                ("\\.c$"  . c++-mode)
                ("\\.h$"  . c++-mode))
              auto-mode-alist))

I think you must be joking.

I don't have one for xemacs but I do have a bison (gnu yacc) mode for
emacs.  It doesn't work very well at the moment though.  I've seen
several posters ask this question including me so obviously there is a
demand for a good yacc / bison mode as well as lex (actually I use
flex which is much better!) out there.

You can obtain the bison-mode.el file from me by email with the
subject "send bison-mode.el" or by ftp to pcae.hep.phy.cam.ac.uk in
the directory /pub/bullock.  The bison-mode.el file was written by
Brandon S. Allbery in 1989 and updated by Alf-Ivar Holm last week in
response to my question on gnu.emacs.help.

The one nice thing that this bison mode can do is to hide all the
c code and just show you the rules.  However the indentation is
useless.
