Hallo

is there a possibility to use emacs or Xemacs with
truefonts. Truefonts are running under xfstt for example.

thanks

Assuming that the xfstt font server is running, extend the font path by

xset fp+ inet/127.0.0.1:7101

This line typically goes into ~/.xinitrc. The port number 7101 is the
default one - maybe adapt.

Now you can use X-font specifications for ttf-fonts in the usual way. For instance,
in my ~/.Xresources I set the default XEmacs fonts with

XEmacs.default.attributeFont: -ttf-verdana-medium-r-normal-*-17-*-75-75-*-*-iso8859-1

(Truefonts == TrueType fonts?)  I can use TrueType fonts in XEmacs but
only if I specify all the dashes in the font name.

This works:

    "-microsoft-verdana-medium-r-*-*-13-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"

but this does not:

    "-*-verdana-medium-r-*-13-*"

I don't understand enough about X fonts to be able to say why this is.

just because regarding X fonts, the names must have 14 dash-separated
fields, and "*" means in regexp "[^-]*" , not ".*".

1. dtx and ins in xemacs

Hi,

how do I make xemacs recognize dtx and ins (documented LaTeX code)
files as LaTeX or TeX file? Or is there even some special xemacs
mode for those files?

Thanks
