Does anyone have any performance comparisons that compare AXP machines with old
VAX based machines ?.

In particular VAX 11/750 VAX 8350 and VAX 6310 with AXP based DEC3000/800 and
DEC3000/600 machines.

The document doesn't include all the old Vaxes but at least compares the newer
Vaxes to the DEC 3000 systems.  If you can compare the old Vaxes to the new
Vaxes, you'll be in business.

You'll find that your hardest effort will be determining where your application
relates to the industry-standard benchmarks.  As an example, comparing a DEC
76xx vs a VAX 76xx, the ratio is anywhere from 1.5 to 4.5 depending on your
application mix.
