Announcing beta release of DNEWS

Hi,
EGLE Magic would like to announce the BETA release of
                DNEWS 0.9c
DNEWS is an nntp server (like INN or CNEWS)

Brave and fearless individuals are invited to beta test this
product.  The 'd' stands for dynamic.  This means news groups are only
fetched on demand, this makes it ideal for leaf sites where
only a small subset of news is really needed.

It has other features which you can find out about by
        looking at the web page.

Binaries are available for VAX-VMS, ALPHA-VMS, LINUX & Solaris.
Source is available for anything more obscure :-)

LIMITATIONS:  Firstly, it's beta software, use with caution,
secondly there is no innxmit equiv so it can only be used
on leaf sites at this time (this is a temporary problem).
Thirdly: it doesn't store files in the usual way, so anything that
accesses the news files directly will not work.

DNEWS is shareware, but free to universities using it for non
        comercial gain.

        Looking forward to your comments,

                                        EGLE Magic Developers.

..snip...

Ok, now you know why we called it a beta release, it had one minor
bug, it completely failed to work.

It refused to add news groups, so if your system was already
working then it worked fine (thats how it got past us), but on
a new system it did absolutely nothing, so if anyone would like to
have another go, try version 0.9d, which we promise will do a little
        more than 0.9c did.

                                        Very Embarassed developers going
out to eat humble pie for lunch.
