LPD printing problem

LPD printing problem

Post by Michal Grotthus » Fri, 27 Jun 2003 17:56:16

Hi all,
This problem was probably discussed many times on this list.
The problem is that LPD print symbiont inserts LF characters after /SETUP
module.
This problem occured in version TCPIP ver. 5.0 and was corrected by ECO3
patch (exactly: TCPIPALP_E03A50 or DEC-AXPVMS-TCPIP_ECO-V0500-113-4) and by
defining logicals TCPIP$LPD_SETUP_NOLF or TCPIP$LPD_<quename>_SETUP_NOLF.
I am now using TCPIP ver. 5.3 ECO 2 (exactly: AXPVMS-TCPIP_ECO-V0503-182-4 )
with defined logicals TCPIP$LPD_SETUP_NOLF and
TCPIP$LPD_<quename>_SETUP_NOLF but I still have a problem with print
symbiont.
Can anybody help me?
Michas

This is documented in the releases notes of Tcpip 5.3
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/731FINAL/TCPRN/v53_relnotes_003.html#lp...
er_overview

With Tcpip 5.3, a good number of logical names are replaced by values in the
file tcpip$lpd.conf

To create this file, enable the lpd service (or just do
$ set def sys$specific:<tcpip$lpd>
$ search tcpip$lpd_conf.template "!!!"/out=tcpip$lpd.conf
and remove the comments for the Setup-NoLF )

Great thanks,
But unfortunately this is not all that must be done.
You must also add an "sn" flag in SYS$SPECIFIC:[TCPIP$LPD]TCPIP$PRINTCAP.DAT
file
like this:
HP_QUEUE|hp_queue:\
        :lf=/TCPIP$LPD_ROOT/000000/HP_QUEUE.LOG:\
        :lp=HP_QUEUE:\
        :rm=10.10.26.42:\
        :sd=/TCPIP$LPD_ROOT/HP_QUEUE:\
        :sn:
