I just picked up a 3000 desktop and it seems the onboard cpu is fried.
when i turn it on the power light doesn't cycle and the floppy doesn't
seek. if a accelerator boad would make my new system work, that is what i
need preffer a basic 040 but any response of the part i need is welcome.

Did you check to be sure the jumpers are properly set for '030 operation?
Maybe the guy pulled an '040 board and neglected to do so. Typically, you
want to look at J100 and J104 ISTR...
