Apollo 1240/40 Remapping Kickstart?

Apollo 1240/40 Remapping Kickstart?

Post by Efrain Gonzal » Tue, 30 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Is there an application that will remap the kickstartfor the 1240/40 from
Apollo?  Also, is there an FAQ for this board or using 040 boards on the
Amiga in General?

I also want to make sure that my caches are on how do I do this?

Thanks for your help.

Apollo did not produce a remapper but you could try "RemApollo" on Aminet, Its
in util/misc IIRC and its for Apollo boards only.

Try the Apollo fastslot accelerators page -
Http://www.canit.se/~glenn/apollo.html

Use the CPU60 CLI prog that came with the Apollo to check the Caches

I used to use set040 when I had my Apollo 68040. That worked just
fine.

QuickROM (also on Aminet) works well with my Apollo 1240/40.

Get MCP 1.32 it can remap kickstart to fast ram, turn on/off caches, etc.
Very cool...

I'd rather say you *should* try RemAPollo ;)
And, OS3.5 users, the next version will make you happy ;>

The only problem with RA is that it won't remap an 1.3 kickstart...

Actually for Apollo 040-boards only..

Wow, my page :) ..unfortunatly it only covers the fastslot boards (30xx/40xx),
this is bcoz I don't own one, and never did..

(I currently owns one Apollo 4060 (Seated in my A4000) and one Apollo 3040 (wich
resides in one of my A3000's))

Anyway I seem to remember that I have seen a Apollo A1200-accelerators page
somwhere on the net, if someone finds a good one I'll be happy to link it from
my page.

Erm, I'm using RemAPollo with a 060 board (I am the 'official' 060 RemAPollo
betatester in fact ;)).

Ok.. It does NOT work on my 4060, and I saw no mention of 68060 in the doc, so
I belived that it was the CPU it didn't like..

:) ..maybe coz I keep on smashing it into everyones mind by having it in
my signature ? :)

..Not very well updated unfortunatly.. I havn't had very much time for my
homepage and/or the Apollopage lately..

I saw that and thought "oh, is that 040 compatible too ?" :)

..A 1260 board ? ..COz I tried and couldn't get it to work with the 4060.. ..and
since the manual doesn't mention 68060..

Yes, but that's a more general page, and I'm linking it already :)

Thanks anyway :)

Well well well...   %-)
It does *not* mention 68060, but it *does* mention 060 several times ;)
It's even written in the "Short:" of the readme.

But support for A4k is far from perfect, I think (unless this has changed,
you must have the first SIMM slot empty..). It's primarily an A1200
remapper.
